Listening to music is the best pass time. It freshens my mind and it is the only medicine for me when I am mood out. There can exist no human in this world who doesn’t like music.
One day I was really vexed with my office work and wanted some peace of mind. I decided to browse the net for some nice and melodious songs. For a long time I did not find any site with good collection of songs. Then was the moment I came across this site called Kerchoonz which had an entirely different concept. It made me curious. I just had to sign up and then I read through the whole site. It was just great. The concept was simple but worth.
Every time a person listens to a song, the artists gets paid for it. And you know what? You get to download all kinds of songs for FREE! There were games, blogs, news, forums and what not? I found all my favorite tracks there. Above all, even videos that I needed were available in this site. People could also make use of the new kwidgets with which they can post new music to their blogs and other sites. I was so excited and I am so thankful to kerchoonz. It just got me back my peace of mind. This effort really needs to be appreciated.

NEW IPHONE OS HAS VOICE RECOGNITION!!

Bookmark and Share
Top Blogs

It’s been quite sometime since i have written about apple or iphone and also its been some time we first heard of iPhone OS 3.0. While there were many new features that were publicized and then later “leaked”, there was one thing that has so far remained hidden from prying eyes.

If initial reports are to be believed, a hidden feature has been revealed in the latest beta of the OS 3.0. We’re talking about the much awaited Voice Recognition application that might just see the light of the day whenever OS 3.0 comes to your iPhone. The software in question is called Jabbler. It will have speech and voice functionality like in the recently launched iPod shuffle and will be built into the SpringBoard application.

The addition of Voice Recognition will of course bee a great boost to Apple’s functionality especially in the fields of GPS navigation where turn-by-turn navigation using voice commands can be of good use. It will also be nice for e-book reading and of course voice dialing!

While its now almost certain that Voice Recognition will make it to the future iPhones, we will still take this news with a pinch of salt till we receive confirmation from folks at Cupertino regarding this.

HOW TO BECOME A LEGAL HACKER!!

Bookmark and Share
Top Blogs

Well, it has been ages since I have updated my blog, I am really sorry for all the visitors out there. I love your support. Recently, I heard my friend talking about ethical hacking!! I didn’t understand what he was talking about intially but later understood that an Ethical Hacker is an individual who is usually employed within the organization and who can be trusted to undertake an attempt to penetrate networks and/or computer systems using the same methods as a Hacker. But what I never understood was, does this provide employment to us. Well, after some investigation, I found out that it is legal to be an ethical hacker and IT companies always want ethical hackers to see if they are fool proof. An Ethical Hacker could easily help maintain a tight IT Security. So there you have it, it is not illegal to be a hacker and all the hackers out there, now, can work legally with a cause. Also, there is The CEH Program which certifies individuals in the specific network security discipline of Ethical Hacking from a vendor-neutral perspective. The Certified Ethical Hacker certification will fortify the application knowledge of security officers, auditors, security professionals, site administrators, and anyone who is concerned about the integrity of the network infrastructure. A Certified Ethical Hacker is a skilled professional who understands and knows how to look for the weaknesses and vulnerabilities in target systems and uses the same knowledge and tools as a malicious hacker. There is also a insturctor named EC-Council which conducts different classes about Ethical Hacking. The program also ensures that you learn topics such as Security Fundamentals, Ethical Hacking, Penetration Testing, Computer Forensics, Disaster Recovery, Secure Programming.

FACEBOOK UNDERGOES FACIAL CHANGE!!

Bookmark and Share
Top Blogs

Facebook is revamping its home page with real-time status updates to bring the website more in line with its micro-blogging competitor Twitter.

The social networking site also plans other changes so its 175million users can more easily choose the types of information they see.

In the last few months Twitter has become increasingly popular with many celebrities posting there. That site lets people express themselves in 140 characters or less and keep up with what celebrities have to say.

In response Facebook announced yesterday that it will let users follow public figures like President Barack Obama, bands such as U2 and even institutions like The New York Times.

The changes are due to go live on March 11, when Facebook will launch a redesigned home page that lets users receive continuous updates from their friends instead of every 10 or 15 minutes.

It is also adding filters so people can choose which of their friends to keep up with and which to silence, limiting news from tiresome or annoying acquaintances you don’t necessarily want to ‘de-friend.’

Currently, people can choose to receive less information about certain friends but can’t silence them completely. With the changes, users will even be able to filter updates so they only see photos or videos, for example.

Facebook will also tweak its central feature, the status update, which now invites people to broadcast to their friends a response to ‘What are you doing right now?’

Responses can now range from mundane to poetic to uncomfortably personal.
Facebook’s new question, ‘What’s on your mind?’, may encourage people to dig deeper into their subconscious and post more entertaining updates than ‘Kevin is updating Facebook’.

In hopes of avoiding complaints that followed past redesigns, the company posted a preview of the changes yesterday and invited feedback.

‘As more and more information flows through Facebook, the need for people to easily discover the most recent and relevant content has grown,’ founder and chief executive Mark Zuckerberg said.

He admitted admiring Facebook’s primary competitors, Twitter and MySpace.

MAKE YOUR LAPTOP CRY LOUD FOR HELP WHEN ITS STOLEN!!

Oh my god my laptop is stolen !! , you look here and there and shout to everyone saying my laptop is stolen but everyone thinks your a lunatic, lol this has happened to me once  but thank god it wont happen again even if its stolen cause now you can shout in front of the person who has stolen your lap pc.

Scientists have created a computer program that allows laptops to cry out for help if they have been stolen.
The program, called Retriever, is the brainchild of a US company and gives users the chance to send personal voice messages to let thieves know exactly what they think of them.

A previous version of the software package allowed users to display banner messages on the machine by going to a website and checking a box indicating that the computer is missing. This meant that when a thief attempted to use the laptop they were greeted with a ’stolen screen’ - a red or yellow ‘lost or stolen’ banner which pops up on the screen.

Messages can be set to reappear at 30-second intervals, no matter how many times the thief closes the laptop. In the new ‘talk update’ version of Retriever, when the ’stolen screen’ appears, the laptop can now additionally play out a voice message recorded by users.

Carrie Hafeman, chief executive of the Front Door Software Corporation in Colorado, the company behind the software, said the software had already seen personal messages such as: ‘If you are not my owner, please report me now’ and ‘Get your hands off me you S.O.B’.When a thief attempts to access the internet with the stolen laptop, the Retriever package collects information on the internet service provider being used and nearby wi-fi access points. This in turn alerts the police to the missing machine’s location.

The software costs £21 and has been designed to work with Microsoft Windows XP and Vista. Ms Hafeman added a version for Mac users was in the pipeline.hmm we have to wait and watch how this works or if it really works ???!!.

THE FAMOUS PENTAGON HACKER FACES 70 YEARS IN US JAIL

Bookmark and Share

Gary McKinnon, the UFO-obsessed computer geek who hacked into the Pentagon networks, has received a massive setback in his fight against extradition to America.Mr McKinnon, an unemployed 42-year-old with Asperger’s syndrome, faces up to 70 years in an American prison as a terrorist under a controversial extradition treaty.he had hoped to avoid extradition to the US by being tried in the UK – but was dealt a huge blow last week when the Crown Prosecution Service announced it would not bring charges against him.

The move opens the way for him to be extradited instead, under the 2003 Extradition Act.Glasgow-born McKinnon was accused of breaking into Pentagon computers and raiding 98 networks used by the US army, navy and Nasa between February 2001 and March 2002.He has always maintained he hacked in to find evidence of UFOs. He also told police that the US systems had been accessed by other hackers, many of Chinese origin. Now, his last hope appears to rest with a judicial review of Home Secretary Jacqui Smith’s decision that, despite his Asperger’s syndrome, there is no medical objection to his extradition for trial.

His supporters include pop star Sting and wife Trudie Styler, who have written to Jacqui Smith backing his case.Sting told The Mail on Sunday: ‘It’s a travesty of human rights that Gary McKinnon finds himself in this dreadful situation.‘The US response in relation to the true nature of Gary’s crime is disproportionate in the extreme. Gary is even contemplating suicide because of his fear of incarceration as a terrorist in a US jail.‘The British Government is prepared to hand over this vulnerable man without reviewing the evidence.’

Sting pointed out that Mr McKinnon faces extradition under an Extradition Act signed by Britain but not Washington – which means Britain does not have reciprocal rights.Prof Simon Baron-Cohen, director of the Autism Research Centre at Cambridge University, also backs Mr McKinnon. He said: ‘He should be tried in the UK and not treated as a terrorist but as a man with a social disability.’McKinnon – who is also being supported by London Mayor Boris Johnson – is living in his home in Wood Green, North London, until the final decision is made. His mother Janis Sharp, said: ‘I’m heartbroken at the lack of compassion shown towards my son.‘Somebody, somewhere please wake up and realise the extradition of even one vulnerable person cannot be a price worth paying to save the US’s embarrassment.

HIGH QUALITY PHOTOS FROM DIGICAMS!!!

The best professional digital cameras can capture photos containing tens of megapixels. But, thanks to an affordable robotic tripod, it is now possible to use a consumer camera to take images in the gigapixel range – like this one of President Obama’s inauguration.

The tripod robot, called Gigapan, was developed at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and uses motors to capture a scene with a grid of hundreds or thousands of images with the camera set to full zoom. Photo stitching software then combines them into a single super-detailed image containing billions of pixels, called a gigapan. The largest, most spectacular gigapans can be too large to handle on all but the most powerful desktop computers.

The result is too detailed to be viewed on any printout, but gigapans can be uploaded to a dedicated site where users are able zoom right into the imagesl.

With an affordable version of the device launched last month, the three-legged robot has the potential to be a boon to science, as well as holiday snaps.

UPDATE YOUR IPOD UNOFFICALLY TO 240GB !!

Size matters, especially when it comes to how many songs, podcasts and videos your iPod can carry. If you’re toting around an iPod Video, which originally shipped with 30GB, 60GB or 80GB hard drive,  you can now upgrade to a whopping 240 gigabytes of storage for your pocket player.A 240 GB drive can hold roughly 60,000 songs, 300 hours of video or 50,000 photos.

Leading online electronics repair service Rapid Repair just announced the world’s first 240 GB hard drive upgrade for iPods, using a new 1.8-inch Toshiba drive compatible with fifth-generation (5G) iPod Video players. The cost for the drive is $294.99, but Rapid Repair is offering free installation for the time being if you’d prefer them to handle the switch for you. (You must send your iPod to them, at your expense.  It takes 1 to 2 days in the service center to switch drives.)

Data recovery and transfer from the old drive to the new one is optional, but adds to the cost. Otherwise you’ll receive your iPod with a fresh 240 GB drive installed (media-free) and your original drive, too, unless you want to trade it in for a credit towards a future purchase. The Kalamazoo, Michigan-based company says these drives use an exclusive mechanical and firmware design for enhanced durability, as well as a 33 percent improvement in overall energy efficiency over past Toshiba drives.

A warning: If you open your iPod it voids Apple’s warranty.  Rapid Repair says their drives come with a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty against defects.Rapid Repair is currently testing the use of the Toshiba 240 GB hard drive in other iPod Classic and Zune 2G media players.
